My name is Cheri and I am the name behind C. Thompson photography. I am a Mom to 3 amazing children, I have an amazing husband, who is my biggest fan, and I’m probably a little bias, but I have the most supportive family and best friends. I am where I am today because I fully believe God has a plan for me and everything is perfect in his timing. I feel incredibly blessed and consider myself very fortunate that I’m getting to live out my dreams and passion each and every day.
Fun Facts
I am a native Texan and I love our Summer’s even though this year it has been extremely hot with no rain. I could eat Tex-Mex every day. I love the beach, boating, and spending time outdoors. I can rock a slalom ski and I love fishing with my kids. I have to have coffee every single day or I can’t wake up. I love the Texas Longhorns and I am proud that the University of Texas is my Alma Mater. Shopping is my therapy and photography is my outlet.
How I got My Start In Photography
I’d love to say that I have a BA in photography, but I actually have a BS in Education. I can’t say that I was born with a camera in my hand, but I can certainly say, that I’ve honestly had a lifelong love affair with photography. Many hobbies have come and gone in my life, but this has always remained a constant. Just ask my husband how many cameras I’ve purchased over the years. However, it wasn’t until I became pregnant with our first child that my lifelong hobby turned into a full blown obsession. After our son’s arrival, I went on a quest to document each and every moment of his life. I wanted time to stand still, but since that wasn’t an option, I did the next best thing. I put down the baby book, picked up my camera, started clicking, and well the rest is history.
Equipment
I am Nikon gal and that is because I learned all of the basics with a 35mm film Nikon when I apprenticed for a local photographer during college. I felt comfortable with Nikon and that is what I have invested in over the years. Out of all of my lenses, I’m still seriously in love my 50mm. Give me some soft diffused sunlight and I’m golden.
My Style and Mission
I am truly passionate about my work and there is nothing more rewarding than being behind the lens and capturing life or as I call it memories in action. I believe that all portraits tell a story. They can speak to your soul, make time standstill, and preserve memories that will last a life time. I would love to have the opportunity to capture your story so that it can be shared as well as preserved for years to come. I take a fun, relaxed, and natural approach to each and every session. I love candid/lifestyle portraiture mixed with a little bit of tradition. I love capturing the as is, raw and tender emotions, getting a glimpse of your everyday life. A true reflection of you is what I find stunning and that is my goal for every session.
